A Year of Strife are a set of five Sara Teasdale poems for soprano, harp, and live-electronics. The idea of the set is to use the live-electronics to push to expand on the sonic qualities of a singular voice while simultaneously maintaining the intimacy of someone’s quiet thoughts. The five Teasdale poems (and a few interludes) tell the difficult, yet widely known, story of heartbreak.
